Charlottesville, Va. – Three members of the Virginia men’s golf team have been named to the Division I PING All-East Region team. That trio includes seniors David Pastore (Greenwich, Conn.) and Ben Rusch (Weinfelden, Switzerland) and junior Denny McCarthy (Rockville, Md.).

McCarthy currently leads Virginia with a 70.50 stroke average. He is ranked 14th by Golfstat and 17th by Golfweek. He led the team in scoring six times this year and was the runner-up at the ACC Championships. McCarthy begins competition at the NCAA Championships Friday after earning an individual berth with his sixth-place finish at an NCAA Regional site.

It marks the third consecutive season McCarthy has been named to the All-Region team.

Rusch was second on the team with a 71.43 stroke average. He had five top-15 finishes this season highlighted by a runner-up effort at the U.S. Collegiate. He is ranked the No. 72 player in the nation by Golfstat and No. 76 by Golfweek.

Both McCarthy and Rusch were named to the All-ACC team earlier this season.

Pastore was third on the team with a 71.68 stroke average. He won the Jim West Intercollegiate and led the team in scoring three times in the spring. He is currently ranked the No. 72 player in the nation by Golfweek and No. 83 by Golfstat.
