Two Cavaliers Named to All-ACC Academic Softball Team

GREENSBORO, N.C.-Virginia softball seniors Marcy Bowdren and Stephanie Harris were named to the All-ACC Academic Softball Team, the conference announced Friday (June 27).

Bowdren (Fairfax Station, Va.) was recognized for the third time in her career, while Harris (Knoxville, Tenn.) was listed for the second time.

Bowdren, a elementary education major, led the Cavaliers with a .313 batting average and seven home runs, was second with 32 RBI and tied for second with 35 hits. Bowdren finished her career in the all-time top-10 in program history in several categories, including seventh in home runs (22) and eighth in RBI (97).

Harris, a nursing major, started 34 games for the Cavaliers this season in the outfield, hitting .230 with three home runs. Harris was named to the Capital One Academic All-District III First Team in May.

To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic Team, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade-point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.
