Wahoo Central Moderator: Welcome to today’s Wahoo Central chat with Kevin Parks. Kevin is here and we are about to get started! |
Ed (Charlottesville): What is the biggest difference you see in the team this year from last year? |
Kevin Parks: Team maturity is one thing. We have more seniors this year, guys have matured. We understand our roles better and that is just part of the maturing process. |
JP: Would you rather run a defender over or juke him out? |
Kevin Parks: I would rather just run someone over. Its quicker. A juke takes too much time, sometimes. However, it can be fun to see a guy fall down because of a juke. |
Chester Mt. Ulla: Are you ready to run behind this new offensive line? |
Kevin Parks: I am. I am ready for those guys and this team to show what they can do. We feel people have questions about the offensive line, but I have confidence in my guys. |
C.P. Angel (C’vlle): What’s it like being a team captain? What are you doing to be a leader? Are you enjoying doing it? |
Kevin Parks: Our captains are voted on by the players during spring practice. Its an honor that my teammates look to me for leadership. To be a leader, I need to do things right on and off the field. Guys look up to me, this is my fifth year on Grounds and I have a lot of knowledge to share with the younger guys.
To close C.P., I am really enjoying it and its making me a better person as well.
Charles: Do you like the fact you guys are opening against a top-10 opponent in UCLA, or would you rather face a FCS team like many schools do? |
Kevin Parks: Virginia has never been shy of playing an elite schedule. I love playing football and it doesn’t matter who lines up against us, we give it our all.
Playing a team like UCLA at any point during the season is exciting. I am happy anytime I get to run out of the tunnel at Scott Stadium.
Chester (Mt. Ulla): How good does it feel to cross that goal line? |
Kevin Parks: Feels awesome, just like my old Falcon days. That is a nod to all you from West Rowan. |
Jason (Charlottesville): KP, can you name what yours, Smoke’s and Khalek’s greatest strengths are, each? It seems like your styles complement each other’s really well. Looking forward to Saturday! |
Kevin Parks: I think I am tough between the tackles. Smoke will dazzle you with his speed and moves. Khalek can do what both Smoke and I do. |
Jonny (Richmond): How was training camp? What was the biggest difference between the 2014 camp and previous ones you’ve been involved with? |
Kevin Parks: Training camp was different this year because its our second season with the same coordinators. Everything was more fluid.
Myself personally, I feel fresher entering this season. The beautiful weather here in Charlottesville didn’t hurt that.
Michail: What is your personal goals and team goals for this coming season? |
Kevin Parks: My personal goals are the same as our team goals. We want to win. We want to play sound football.
This is my last season and there is a sense of urgency that I have.
Ross (Charlottesville): Love watching you play Kevin … definitely an inspiration. Non-football question. Which Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle do you most relate to and why? |
Kevin Parks: I would say Raphael. Because he runs the show. |
Jimmy: What first-years or fresh faces do you think will make an impact on the field this year? We can’t WAIT for Saturday! |
Kevin Parks: I am excited to see what the wide receiving corps can do this year. One guy is Andre Levrone. After redshirting last year as a first-year, this is his first opportunity and I think he will make the most of it. |
Wahoo Central Moderator: That is all we have time for today. Big thank you to Kevin Parks on joining us here at Wahoo Central.
See everyone at Scott Stadium on Saturday at noon. #GoHoos #Wahoowa
