CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia cross country teams open the 2014 season Friday with the UVa Duals at Panorama Farms in Earlysville. The meet, which features 4K races for both men and women, begins at 4:30 p.m. and admission is free.

The Cavalier women, who open the season ranked No. 10 nationally in the USTFCCCA rankings, will run against No. 3 Florida State, Duke, James Madison, Liberty and Norfolk State.

The Cavalier men open the year ranked No. 14 in the USTFCCCA rankings. They will run against No. 24 Florida State, Liberty and Norfolk State on Friday.

The meet is the first of three meets at Panorama Farms this season for the Cavaliers. Virginia hosts the Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational on Sept. 26, which features a strong field that includes three of the top 15 men’s teams (No. 6 Iona, No. 13 Virginia and No. 15 Eastern Kentucky) and three of the top 12 women’s teams (No. 2 Arizona, No. 9 Virginia and No. 12 William & Mary) from last year’s NCAA Championships.

The 2014 ACC Championships will be held on Oct. 31 at Panorama Farms. It marks the third time the course has hosted the meet, as it was also the site of the 2006 and 2007 ACC meets.
