Charlottesville, Va. – The 10th-ranked Virginia men’s golf team will compete in the inaugural Primland Collegiate Invitational Monday and Tuesday in Meadows of Dan, Va. The tournament will take place at the par-72, 7,053-yard Primland Resort.
The field for the tournament, hosted by No. 21 Wake Forest, features No. 12 Auburn, No. 24 Clemson, No. 17 North Carolina, Penn State, Tennessee, UNC Wilmington and No. 29 Virginia Tech. The teams will play 36 holes Monday and a single round Tuesday. Tee times start at 8:30 a.m. Virginia is paired with Tennessee for the first day of competition. Those teams start at 8:50 a.m. from the No. 10 tee.
The Cavaliers’ lineup will include sophomore Derek Bard (New Hartford, N.Y.), senior Denny McCarthy (Rockville, Md.), sophomore Jimmy Stanger (Tampa, Fla.), junior Nick McLaughlin (New Castle, N.H.) and junior Kyle Kochevar (Glen Ellyn, Ill.).
McCarthy leads UVa with a 71.00 stroke average while Bard is second at 71.50. Bard led the Cavaliers with a fourth-place finish at the DICK’S Sporting Goods Challenge Cup while Stanger was UVa’s top finisher at the season opening Northern Intercollegiate.
