Oct. 3, 2014 TULSA, Okla. – Virginia sophomore Thai-Son Kwiatkowski (Charlotte, N.C.) advanced to the round of 16 of the ITA All-American Championships during Friday’s play at the University of Tulsa. Kwiatkowski, who advanced to the main draw with three wins in qualifying, recorded his fifth win of the tournament to reach the third round.

Kwiatkowski posted the first top-10 win of his career, downing eighth-ranked Winston Lin of Columbia, the tournament’s No. 6 seed, 6-2, 6-7(5), 6-3 in the second round. He will play No. 9-16 seed Austin Smith of Georgia in the round of 16.

Junior Ryan Shane (Falls Church, Va.) suffered a 6-4, 6-2 loss to No. 9-16 seed Roberto Cid of USF in his second round match on Friday.

The tournament continues Saturday and runs through Monday at the Case Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Tulsa.
