Wahoo Central Moderator: Welcome everyone to today’s live Wahoo Central chat with UVa’s Anthony Harris.

We are about to get started.

Greg: Ant, can you talk about Quin Blanding’s development playing as a true freshman on this defense? Have you taken him under your wing, and if so, what is the biggest thing you think he has learned from you this season? BEAT DUKE!
10436833.jpeg spacer.gif Anthony Harris: I have tried to help increase Quin’s awareness of the game and inform him on how offenses may try to attack us. His football IQ has allowed him to pick up a lot of the things I have been telling him when it comes to game preparation. I think he has learned from at this level you need to have a short memory and how to learn from the coaches.
Jackson (Charlottesville): What do you eat before a game?
10436833.jpeg spacer.gif Anthony Harris: Steak and spaghetti.
Jason (Charlottesville): Some see you as a leader for the Wahoo defense. How does this affect your mentality on and off the field?
10436833.jpeg spacer.gif

Anthony Harris: Being a leader comes natural to me. It doesn’t have an affect on me at all.

There is a difference between being a leader on the team and just being one of the better players. I think I have been recognized for my leadership because of how naturally it comes.

Sarah Adams (Richmond): What other UVa sports team would you say the football team has the best relationship with?
10436833.jpeg spacer.gif Anthony Harris: For me personally, its men’s basketball. But other guys on the team are close with men’s lacrosse, women’s soccer among other sports.
Charles: What NFL safety do you emulate and why?
10436833.jpeg spacer.gif Anthony Harris: I try to look at old clips of Ed Reed. He is super intelligent. His football IQ was really high and he was a good leader, very passionate and vocal.
Katie (Roanoke): Do any of your interceptions stick out in your mind? Do you have a favorite defensive memory?
10436833.jpeg spacer.gif Anthony Harris: BYU from last year. The interception was at a big time in the game. I don’t know what I was thinking with the pitch back to Henry, but it really excited the team. We ended up scoring the game-winning touchdown on the next play.
Morgan Moses (Washington, D.C.): Two questions. Is it true that I got you to grow your dreadlocks? Second, talk about how I dominated you in our high school rivalry.
10436833.jpeg spacer.gif

Anthony Harris: Well Big Mo, its hard to say. In regards to my dreads, I will admit you suggested it a bunch of times. Even though Meadowbrook beat L.C. Bird, I would not say it was domination. I was just a young pup. Don’t forget how I use to beat you off the edge.

Once you were gone Morgan they didn’t want to play us

Best of luck up there in Washington.

Tim Jones (Fairfax): Is there a different feeling in the locker room this year with the success that you all have been having?
10436833.jpeg spacer.gif Anthony Harris: I would say so. Guys are older, more mature, we believe in each other and confident in the systems and schemes. We are confident the coaches put us in the right position to win. And we are having fun.
Haley (Charlottesville): What was it like hearing you were selected as an All-American last season?
10436833.jpeg spacer.gif Anthony Harris: I was very excited to hear I was named an All-American. It was exciting to know I accomplished something big and that my name would be going up on the hallway at the McCue Center. It was weird seeing my picture on the wall next to Chris Long’s picture.
Toby: What is your favorite stadium that you have played in (other than Scott, of course)?
10436833.jpeg spacer.gif Anthony Harris: Florida State, my freshman year. I am excited to go back this year.
Sarah Rea: If you didn’t play football, what sport would you play?
10436833.jpeg spacer.gif Anthony Harris: Basketball.
Sally (Clifton Forge, Va.): What’s your major? Are you taking any cool classes right now?
10436833.jpeg spacer.gif Anthony Harris: I am a sociology major. I really enjoy my philosophy class right now. The class topic is pleasure and pain.
Brenda (Annapolis): After your final season, what will you miss most about playing at UVA?
10436833.jpeg spacer.gif Anthony Harris: I will miss seeing all the students on the Hill at Scott Stadium. I will miss that and most of all my teammates.
Sarah: What is your favorite pregame song?
10436833.jpeg spacer.gif Anthony Harris: All the Lights by Kanye West.
HooInMaryland: 4th quarter – Hoos up by 3. It’s 3rd down. Would you rather a. make a tackle stopping the runner from getting a first down, b. sack the qb, or c. make an INT? Keep up the great work! Go Hoos!
10436833.jpeg spacer.gif Anthony Harris: How much time is left? I will say that I would come in with the strip sack and allow Eli Harold to pick it up and run it back for a touchdown. Maybe he would do me a favor and pitch it back to me.
C.P. Angel (C’vlle): What is the biggest hit you have ever put on an opposing player? Have you ever just totally flattened somebody?
10436833.jpeg spacer.gif Anthony Harris: Besides Morgan Moses in high school, I did get a good hit on Duke Johnson my second year. Somebody was blocking me and I stuck my arm out to tackle him and clotheslined him.
Laura: Which former Wahoos do you look up to as role models?
10436833.jpeg spacer.gif Anthony Harris: Anthony Poindexter, Chris Long, Morgan Moses and Rodney McLeod. All great guys I look up to.
Sally (Charlottesville): How do you help keep the team in a positive mindset after a tough season last year?
10436833.jpeg spacer.gif Anthony Harris: Every season is a new opportunity. The guys are getting better physically and mentally and more aware in the system. We have new guys getting an opportunity to play and older guys are setting new standards and bringing a new mindset. Whatever it takes. Fight to the end.
Brandon, Richmond: Of the remaining games, who do you want to beat the most?
10436833.jpeg spacer.gif Anthony Harris: The most important game is the next game. Always.
Bill (Louisa): Do you ever watch old tapes of Dex?
10436833.jpeg spacer.gif Anthony Harris: The only clips I have seen of Dex is what they have shown in meetings. They didn’t have YouTube back when Dex played, but I watch the old film when they pull it out.
Mike (Falls Church): What’s your best Non-football UVA memory so far?
10436833.jpeg spacer.gif Anthony Harris: Becoming part of the IMP Society.
