Frank Has Strong Performance at Futures Event

MANSFIELD, Texas – Virginia senior Mitchell Frank (Annandale, Va.) had a strong showing at the $15,000 USTA Futures Tour event this week in Texas. He reached the quarterfinals after posting a pair of victories.
Frank downed world No. 519 Daniel Garza of Mexico in the first round, rallying for a 5-7, 6-0, 6-3 win. In the second round he topped Samm Butler of Great Britain, 6-2, 7-5. He suffered a 6-2, 6-3 quarterfinal loss to the No. 3 seed, former Duke All-American Henrique Cunha of Brazil.
The Cavaliers were well represented in the qualifying draw of the tournament. First-year Henrik Wiersholm (Kirkland, Wash.) and recent graduate Justin Shane (Class of 2014) lost in the final round of qualifying, while junior Mac Styslinger (Birmingham, Ala.) lost in the first round of qualifying.
