Shane Brothers Advance in Charlottesville Challenger Doubles Qualifying

CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Charlottesville Men’s Pro Challenger, a $50,000 event on the ATP Challenger Tour, continued qualifying action SUnday at the Boar’s Head Sports Club. All ten current members of the Virginia men’s tennis team, and two Cavalier alumni, are competing in the tournament.
Senior Mitchell Frank (Annandale, Va.) and junior Mac Styslinger (Birmingham, Ala.) will compete in the main draw, which begins Monday. The duo will also compete in the main draw of doubles. Treat Huey (Class of 2008) will also compete in doubles.
Three Cavaliers, junior Ryan Shane (Falls Church, Va.), first-year Alexander Ritschard (Zurich, Switzerland) and alumnus Justin Shane (Class of 2014), suffered second-round qualifying singles losses Sunday. The Shane brothers teamed for a first-round qualifying doubles victory and are one win away from the main draw.
The main draw will begin Monday.
