CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Reigning league champion Virginia was picked to finish fourth in the Atlantic Coast Conference in a poll of media attending ACC Operation Basketball on Wednesday in Charlotte. Junior guard Malcolm Brogdon (Atlanta, Ga.) was one of five players named to the preseason All-ACC team.

Duke was the named the conference preseason favorite, receiving 41 of the 65 first-place votes in Wednesday’s voting. North Carolina, who garnered 12 first-place votes, and Louisville, with three first-place votes were second and third, respectively. The Cavaliers, who received seven first place votes, were fourth, followed by Syracuse (two first place votes), Pitt, Notre Dame, Florida State, NC State, Miami, Clemson, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, Boston College and Virginia Tech.

Brogdon was joined on the preseason All-ACC team by Marcus Paige of North Carolina, Montrezl Harrell of Louisville, Jahlil Okafor of Duke and Jerian Grant of Notre Dame. Paige was the pick for Preseason ACC Player of the Year and Okafor was named Preseason ACC Rookie of the Year.
