Greensboro, N.C. – Virginia’s Lauren Diaz-Yi (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Golfer of the Month for October.

Diaz-Yi won the first tournament of her career when she placed first at the Tar Heel Invitational in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, shooting a career-low 7-under 209. She took medalist honors by four strokes. She matched her career-low 18-hole score with a 3-under 69 during the final round. She is the sixth player in the history of the Cavalier program to claim medalist honors at an event. She tied the UVa tournament scoring record for a sophomore and was just one stroke shy of equaling the Cavaliers’ all-time low 54-hole score.

Diaz-Yi added a 14th-place finish at the Landfall Tradition hosted by UNC Wilmington. Diaz-Yi compiled a 217 score for three rounds and finished the month with a scoring average of 71.0.

For the season, Diaz-Yi currently ranks fifth in scoring average among ACC golfers at 72.1.
