FLUSHING, N.Y. – Virginia junior Julia Elbaba (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) advanced to the singles final during Saturday (Nov. 8) action at the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

No. 5 Elbaba defeated Florida’s Brooke Austin 6-2, 6-4 in the semifinals and will play No. 43 Maegan Manasse of Cal in the final tomorrow. Elbaba avenged a three-set loss to Austin in the first round of the Riviera/ITA All-American earlier this fall.

Elbaba has posted wins over No. 16 Zsofi Susanyi of Cal (6-2, 6-4), No. 20 Lorraine Guillermo of Pepperdine (7-5, 6-3), No. 1 Jamie Loeb of North Carolina (7-6, 4-6, 6-2) and Austin during her run to the final.

Virginia junior Maci Epstein (Winter Park, Fla.) and sophomore Marie Faure (Toulouse, France) completed second-day action at the UNC Kitty Harrison Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C. Epstein and Faure defeated Davidson’s Jenna Brunner and Elaina Cummer 8-3 in doubles. Epstein beat South Carolina’s Megen Cochrane 6-3, 6-1. Faure dropped a 4-6, 6-3, 1-0(5) decision to Maryland’s Ekaterina Tour. Epstein and Faure conclude play at the invite tomorrow with a pair of singles matches against East Carolina.
