team-logo-va.gif spacer.gif Wahoo Central Moderator: Welcome to today’s live Wahoo Central chat with WR Darius Jennings. We are about to get started.
Patrick: What will be going through your head as your name is called pre-game for Senior Night and you walk out onto the field?
10550684.jpeg spacer.gif Darius Jennings: I am going to try to enjoy the moment. Represent my family and the University to the best of my ability and get the W.
JoJo (Virginia Beach): Totally awesome tip of the hat to Miles Gooch by wearing his number this weekend. When did it first cross your mind to do such an honor?
10550684.jpeg spacer.gif

Darius Jennings: It was a Sunday after Miles got hurt in the UNC game and it appeared he would be done for the year.

I thought it would be a good way to honor him as a player during our Senior Day. He can’t play in the game, but his number will.

Bev (Richmond, Va.): You are ranked No. 5 I believe in career receptions. Did you ever think when you came to UVa that you would leave such a mark?
10550684.jpeg spacer.gif

Darius Jennings: I always believed in my talents, but I never set any statistical goals. I wanted to put forth my best effort and let the chips fall as they may.

When my career is all said and done in the coming months, it will be nice to look back and see how my career compares to some great UVa players.

James: Darius, not a question, just a comment. Thank you for being a first-class representative of the University over the last 4 years. Congratulations and best of luck on Senior Night. Go ‘Hoos!
10550684.jpeg spacer.gif Darius Jennings: Thanks James. I am proud to be a Wahoo.

John (Johnson City, Tenn.): Darius –

You come from a lacrosse rich school in Gilman. Did you ever sling the lacrosse stick around back in the day? Are you close with the Gilman guys at UVa?

10550684.jpeg spacer.gif

Darius Jennings: The varsity coach tried to get me to start playing when I was in middle school. It just never stuck.

Ryan Tucker came to play lacrosse here the same year I started. Harry Prevas was here as was Conor McGee. Now Chase Campbell is here. I keep up when I can. We are all Greyhounds.

baltimore, md: Hi Darius! Love you much Catch that ball and “run Darius run”.
10550684.jpeg spacer.gif Darius Jennings: Thanks Grandma … haha. I love you.
Matthew: Do you do anything different to prep for a cold game like Saturday night? Sleeves or no sleeves
10550684.jpeg spacer.gif Darius Jennings: I don’t do anything too different. I always plan on going no sleeves during the game. I have more grip on the ball after I catch it. But the weather Saturday night will dictate what I do.
Lisa: Do you get a little more hyped for night games than day games? The last two games of the year are in primetime. What is your favorite night game memory at Virginia?
10550684.jpeg spacer.gif

Darius Jennings: Favorite night memory? Has to be my first year going the distance for a long touchdown at Miami on Thursday night. Big lights – ESPN. It was also my first collegiate touchdown.

I treat all our games the same way, but its definitely special when you are under the lights.

Brenda: What is your favorite class at THE university of Virginia?
10550684.jpeg spacer.gif

Darius Jennings: I took a drama elective this past summer. It was all about public speaking and public demeanor. I feel I learned more from this class that will help me in the real world than anything else I have taken.

The teacher always stressed if you want to be successful to be the most present in the room.

Jerry (San Francisco): Who do you think are the five best wide receivers in the NFL today?
10550684.jpeg spacer.gif

Darius Jennings: It would be hard for me to pick the five best, but I will share the five guys I wouldn’t mind playing with. In no particular order:

Calvin JohnsonSteve SmithDez BryantAntonio BrownTavon Austin

Obviously I am a little biased to my hometown team (Baltimore) and shorter receivers.

Shirley: Behind the mask, what is one thing about you most fans do not know? That you are comfortable sharing!
10550684.jpeg spacer.gif

Darius Jennings: Wow. This question made me realize I need to pick up some hobbies outside of school and football.

However, when I was 10 playing youth football I played center for three games because I was the only one who could long snap. I also did some punting. Watch out Alec Vozenilek.

Ron: Since this is your final home game at Scott Stadium, what is your all-time favorite in-game moment at Scott?
10550684.jpeg spacer.gif Darius Jennings: The feeling I had when we beat Georgia Tech my freshman year and all the fans rushed the field. I remember being a deer in the headlights and enjoying the moment. Soaking it all in. Took a while for me to find my way back to the locker room.
Steve. Verona Va: What is the number 1 thing. that will always stick out about your career at uva? Good luck and GO HOOS!!
10550684.jpeg spacer.gif Darius Jennings: I will remember the bonds I made in the locker room more than anything. These are lifelong friends I have made here. I have had an opportunity to play with many different guys. Just to be able to play with all the guys over these four years has been a blessing.
team-logo-va.gif spacer.gif Wahoo Central Moderator: That is all we have time for today. Big thank you to Darius Jennings on stopping by Wahoo Central. See you all out at Scott Stadium on Saturday night at 7 p.m. Wahoowa!
