CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Virginia men’s and women’s track & field teams will send athletes to a pair of meets this week, both running Feb. 13-14. The Cavalier jumpers and multi-event athletes will compete at the Don Kirby Elite Meet in Albuquerque, N.M., while the throwers, sprinters and distance runners will compete at the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa.

Live results of both meets will be available on VirginiaSports.com.

Virginia will send 14 men and 17 women to the Iowa State Classic. Among the athletes competing in Ames are three individuals who have set school records this season: senior Jordan Lavender (Nashville, Tenn.) in the women’s 200m, senior Payton Hazzard (Huntington, N.Y.) in the men’s 400m and sophomore Jordan Young (Windsor, Ontario) in the men’s weight throw. The men’s 4x400m relay will also compete for the first time since breaking the school record in that event three weeks ago.

Nine Cavaliers, four men and five women, will be competing in New Mexico. Senior triple-jumper Ryan Satchell (Central Islip, N.Y.) will return to action at the meet, while Bridget Guy (Greensburg, Pa.) will compete a week after breaking the school record in the women’s pole vault.

Virginia will send athletes to the Alex Wilson Invitational at Notre Dame on Feb. 21, before competing at the ACC Indoor Track & Field Championships the following week (Feb. 26-28) at Virginia Tech.
