CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.–The Virginia softball team hosts Georgia Tech this weekend (March 7-8) at The Park. Saturday’s doubleheader has been moved an hour to a 2 p.m. start because of field conditions at The Park. Sunday’s single game is slated for a noon start.

Admission to all Virginia softball games at The Park is free of charge. Live statistics for all three games will be available at Virginiasports.com.

The Cavaliers (4-14, 1-2 ACC) opened their ACC schedule last weekend, going 1-2 against Pitt in Florence, S.C. Sophomore Kaitlin Fitzgerald (Placentia, Calif.) leads the team with a .409 batting average, while freshman Allison Davis (Oak Hill, Va.) paces the squad with 19 runs, 19 RBI and is tied for the team lead with four home runs.

The Yellow Jackets (7-12, 0-3 ACC) dropped a three-game series to Louisville last weekend in Atlanta. Katie Johnsky leads the team with a .432 batting average, while Courtney Ziese leads the squad with four home runs and 16 RBI.

Virginia leads the all-time series, 38-36, but Georgia Tech took both games last year in Atlanta, 10-2 (six innings) and 3-2 (eight innings).

Next up, the Cavaliers travel to Fairfax, Va., on Wednesday (March 11) to face George Mason. The doubleheader is set for a 4 p.m. start.
