CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.–The Virginia softball team hosts George Washington Wednesday (March 25) at 5 p.m. at The Park.

Live statistics will be available at VirginiaSports.com. Admission to all Virginia softball games at The Park is free of charge.

The contest at The Park will be a Rewind Wednesday game with an 80’s theme. Music throughout the game will feature 80s favorites and the first 100 fans in attendance will receive an orange or blue glow stick necklace.

Virginia (7-25) went 2-2 in a home tournament with Delaware State and Marist last weekend in Charlottesville. Sophomore Kaitlin Fitzgerald (Placentia, Calif.) is leading the team with a .379 batting average, while senior Megan Harris (Knoxville, Tenn.) is hitting .361 with four home runs.

George Washington (13-10) dropped a doubleheader against La Salle on March 22, but had won eight consecutive games before that. Carlee Gray is hitting .403, while Samantha Dos Santos has a .382 batting average.

The two teams faced each other on Feb. 21 in Orlando, Fla., with the Colonials earning a 16-9 win in 10 innings. The Cavaliers rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game, 5-5, before both teams scored a run in the eighth and two runs in the ninth. GW broke open the game with eight runs in the 10th.

The Cavaliers return to action this weekend (March 28-29) when they travel to Chapel Hill, N.C., for a three-game series at North Carolina. Both Saturday’s doubleheader and Sunday’s single game are set for 1 p.m. starts.
