CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia’s Tony Bennett, Malcolm Brogdon (Atlanta, Ga.) and Justin Anderson (Montross, Va.) were honored by the Virginia Sports Information Directors Association (VaSID) on Tuesday (May 12).

Bennett was named the 2015 VaSID University Division Men’s Basketball Coach of the Year, while Brogdon was named to the VaSID University Division All-State First Team and Anderson was named to the VaSID Second Team.

Bennett earns the VaSID Coach of the Year honor for the second straight season. Bennett, who was named U.S. Basketball Writers Association National Coach of the Year, guided No. 6 Virginia to a 30-4 record. The Cavaliers captured the ACC regular-season title for the second straight year and became the first ACC school to win 16 or more games in back-to-back seasons.

Brogdon, who was a consensus second-team All-American, earned VaSID First Team honors for the second consecutive season. Brogdon led the Cavaliers in scoring at 14 points per game and free throw percentage at 87.9 percent. He scored in double figures in 27 games, including five 20-point games.

Anderson earns his first VaSID honor despite missing eight games of the season due to a fractured finger suffered on Feb. 7 and an appendectomy on March 5. He was second on the team in scoring at 12.2 points per game and was leading the ACC in 3-point percentage at 48.4 percent before he was injured.

Joining Brogdon on the VaSID First Team was VaSID Player of the Year Marcus Thornton (William & Mary), Treveon Graham (VCU), Kendall Anthony (Richmond) and Trey Freeman (Old Dominion).

The VaSID Second Team included Jeff Short (Norfolk State), Javonte Green (Radford), RaShid Gaston (Norfolk State), Terry Tarpey (William & Mary) and Anderson.
