CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia rising senior Julia Elbaba (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) tasted more success at a United States Tennis Association Pro Circuit event this past week. Elbaba advanced to the second round in singles and semifinals in doubles at the $50K Kentucky Bank Tennis Championships in Lexington, Ky.

In singles, Elbaba defeated No. 222 Olivia Rogowska of Australia 2-6, 6-3, 6-1 in the first round before falling to No. 178 Jennifer Brady 6-4, 6-2 in the second round.

Elbaba and Veronica Corning posted a pair of doubles victories to advance to the semifinals. The duo defeated the USA’s Allison Quammen and Madeline Rolph 6-2, 6-0 and won by walkover against the USA’s Asia Muhammed and Brady. Elbaba and Corning lost 6-3, 5-7, 10-7 in the super tiebreaker in semifinal action against Thailand’s Nicha Lertpitaksinchai and Peangtarn Plipuech.
