Play Suspended At American Collegiate Invitational
Sept. 10, 2015
NEW YORK – Inclement weather forced the suspension of play of Thursday’s match between Julia Elbaba (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) and Julia Jones of Ole Miss at the American Collegiate Invitational.
Elbaba trailed in the match 5-7, 2-3 at the time of suspension. Play between the two women will resume Friday afternoon at a time not yet determined when play was suspended on Thursday evening.
The American Collegiate Invitational features the top eight men’s and top eight women’s collegiate players from the United States. The winner of each draw at the event can earn a bid into the 2016 US Open provided they meet certain ranking criteria at the time of the entry deadline next summer. Otherwise, the winners will receive qualifying wild cards. The champions will also get wild cards into two USTA Pro Circuit events, while each runner-up will earn one wild card.
