Charlottesville, Va. – The Virginia women’s golf team opens its 2015-16 season at the College of Charleston’s Cougar Classic on Sunday, Sept. 13. The three-day, 54-hole tournament is held at Yeamans Hall Club in Hanahan, S.C.

Eight of the top 30-ranked schools in last year’s final rankings will compete in the 20-team field including Golfweek preseason No. 4 Arkansas, who is the defending tournament champion. The College of Charleston also welcomes Auburn, Central Florida, Charleston Southern, Clemson, Florida, Furman, No. 27 Georgia, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, No. 17 Mississippi State, North Carolina, UNCG, No. 24 NC State, Penn State, No. 13 Wake Forest and Wisconsin.

Virginia’s lineup includes junior Lauren Diaz-Yi (Thousand Oaks, Calif.), senior Lauren Coughlin (Chesapeake, Va.), senior Elizabeth Szokol (Winnetka, Ill.), freshman Katharine Patrick (Houston, Texas) and freshman Morgan Gonzales (Chandler, Ariz.). Competing as individuals will be sophomore Lyberty Anderson (Chesterfield, Va.) and freshman Anna Redding (Concord, N.C.).

The par-72 course at Yeamans Hall will play at 6,204 yards. Eighteen holes will be played on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. The first and second rounds will start off the first tee at 7:45 a.m. (ET), while the final round will be a 9 a.m. (ET) shotgun start.
