BALTIMORE, Md. – The Virginia women’s lacrosse team signed a five-year agreement for STX to be the exclusive official equipment supplier for the program.

“We are really excited about our new STX sponsorship and feel honored to be a part of the number of great programs using the STX brand for our lacrosse equipment needs,” head coach Julie Myers said. “The entire UVA Women’s Lacrosse team is excited to make the switch to STX and to see where this year takes us.”

As part of the agreement, STX will supply custom heads, handles and other equipment for the program. The Baltimore, Md. based company is a global sporting goods leader in the sports of lacrosse, field hockey and ice hockey. STX introduced the synthetic lacrosse head in 1970 to help bolster the sport into one of the fastest growing team sports.

“We are extremely excited to sponsor another top NCAA team of Virginia’s caliber,” said Jessica Bieber, Women’s Lacrosse Brand Manager at STX. “We look forward to supporting its women’s lacrosse program and helping them achieve success in upcoming seasons.”

Virginia has earned three National Championship titles in program history. Under Myer, the Cavaliers have reached the NCAA Championship finals eight times and have won the title game of the ACC Tournament five times.

The Cavaliers will play five dates this fall in preparation for the 2016 season, including three home matches. The team returns 19 letterwinners, including six starters, as well as adding seven newcomers.
