NIIC Championship Central | Live Scoring | Singles Draw | Doubles Draw | Consolation Doubles

FLUSHING, N.Y. – Virginia men’s tennis junior Thai-Son Kwiatkowski (Charlotte, N.C) and senior Mac Styslinger (Birmingham, Ala.) played opening round matches on Thursday, Nov. 12 at the 2015 USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, New York.

Kwiatkowski, the top-seeded player in the singles draw, logged a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Florida State’s Benjamin Lock in Thursday’s first-round match. Round-of-16 and quarterfinal singles matches will be contested on Friday. Kwiatkowski will face Northwestern’s Konrad Zieba at 9 a.m. with the winner playing either Ohio State’s Hugo di Feo or Virginia Tech’s Joao Monteiro at 1:30 p.m.

Kwiatkowski and Styslinger, the top-ranked team in the doubles bracket, had a first-round bye, but were upset 7-6 (4), 6-4 by Texas Tech’s Hugo Dojas/Felipe Soa in the second round. Kwiatkowski and Styslinger will face Indiana’s Daniel Bednarczyk/Sam Mone in the consolation bracket on Friday at approximately 4:30 p.m.

Live scoring for the NIIC, which runs Nov. 12-15, will be available for the entire tournament on event host Columbia University’s website with updated draws and daily recaps from the event available at the ITA Championship Central page.

ESPN3 and WatchESPN will broadcast the men’s and women’s singles semifinals and finals. The NIIC broadcast will feature Patrick McEnroe and Stephen Amritraj as the on-air talent for the six matches. Semifinal coverage gets underway at 9 a.m. ET on Saturday, Nov. 14, with men’s and women’s matches played consecutively. Sunday’s championship matches begin at 10 a.m. ET, with the men’s final, followed immediately by the women’s final.

The NIIC features 32 of the nation’s elite men’s and women’s singles players, as well as 20 outstanding men’s and women’s doubles teams. Champions from the USTA/ITA Division I Regional Championships, USTA/ITA National Small College Championships Super Bowl, Oracle/ITA Masters and the consolation champions, doubles finalists, men’s singles quarterfinalists and women’s singles semifinalists from the Saint Francis ITA Men’s and Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championships earned automatic entry into the NIIC. Both the USTA and ITA selected at-large and wildcard participants, while Columbia University received a wildcard entry into each draw for serving as event host.
