Former UVA tailback Cedric Peerman was named to the NFL Pro Bowl on Tuesday. It’s the first Pro Bowl appearance for Peerman, who is in his sixth year in the league. The Pro Bowl will be played this Sunday (Jan. 31) at 7 p.m. (ET) at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu. It will be televised live on ESPN.

There is a watery connection during this week’s professional golf tours featuring several Hoos. Former All-American Brittany Altomare tees it up in her first LPGA event at the Pure Silk Bahamas LPGA Classic in Paradise Island, Bahamas.

Meanwhile, on a course that borders the Pacific Ocean, Steve Marino will be playing in the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego. South of there, James Driscoll and Denny McCarthy (making his professional debut) are set to compete in the’s Panama Claro Championship in Panama City, Panama.
