CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 7 Virginia women’s team continues home competition on Friday (Jan. 29), hosting the No. 28 South Carolina Gamecocks at the Boar’s Head Sports Club at 4 p.m.

Admission to all women’s tennis matches is free to the public.

Virginia (3-0, 1-0 ACC) enters the match coming off a pair of wins at home last weekend in the ITA Kickoff event. The Cavaliers defeated BYU 7-0 before posting a 6-1 win over No. 56 Columbia to advance to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships next weekend at the University of Wisconsin.

A pair of seniors ranked in the top 10 of the Oracle/ITA singles rankings lead the Cavaliers, with Danielle Collins (St. Petersburg, Fla.) ranked No. 4 and Julia Elbaba (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) ranked No. 8. Senior Stephanie Nauta is ranked No. 30 in the singles rankings as the trio serve as captains for the squad this season.

Collins is currently 3-0 on the season in singles play, while both Elbaba and Nauta are 2-1 on the season. All three have broken the century mark for singles wins in their careers.

South Carolina (3-0) enters the weekend with an identical record to the Cavaliers after picking up wins over South Alabama, Furman and Coastal Carolina. The Gamecocks are led by a pair of players ranked in the Oracle/ITA Rankings, with freshmen Paige Cline at No. 43 and Ingrid Gamarra Martins at No. 54.

The match is the only competition of the weekend for the Cavaliers.
