CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.-The Virginia men’s and women’s track and field teams travel to Staten Island, N.Y., to compete at the Fastrack National Qualifier Invite Friday (Feb. 12) at the brand new Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
Action at the meet begins at 1 p.m. Live results will be available at VirginiaSports.com.
The Cavalier men are ranked No. 18 in the latest USTFCCCA National Poll.
Virginia will be competing as a full squad for the first time since the Rod McCravy Memorial Meet in Lexington, Ky., Jan. 22-23.
Last time out, redshirt freshman Oghenakpobo Efekoro (Brooklyn, N.Y.) won the shot put with a throw of 18.82m (61′ 9″), which ranks No. 12 nationally and second in the ACC behind Cavalier teammate Filip Mihaljevic (Livno, Bosnia and Herzegovina). Senior Peyton Chaney (Belleville, Ill.) set personal records in the women’s 60 and 200 meters, including a fifth-place finish in the 200m in 24.01, which ranks third on UVA’s all-time list.
Next up, the distance medley relays will be highlighted at the UCS Invitational Feb. 20 in Winston-Salem, N.C.
