CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 4 Virginia women’s lacrosse team (1-0) plays at No. 12 Princeton (0-0) Saturday (Feb. 20) at noon at Sherrerd Field at Class of 52 Stadium in Princeton, N.J.

The Cavaliers are coming off a 10-8 win over then No. 4 Northwestern last weekend to snap a nine-game losing streak to the Wildcats. Virginia had four players score two goals and sophomore goalkeeper Rachel Vander Kolk (Severna Park, Md.) picked up 12 saves to earn the ACC Defensive Player of the Week award.

Senior Kelly Boyd (Baltimore, Md.), junior Posey Valis (Baltimore, Md.), sophomore Kasey Behr (Northport, N.Y.) and freshman Maggie Jackson (Alexandria, Va.) each scored two goals for UVA. Junior Besser Dyson (Alexandria, Va.) scored the first goal of her career and senior Mary Alati (Glen Ridge, N.J.) added one. Dyson also added a career-high three assists, while Behr and Alati each had one.

This will be the first game of the season for Princeton. The Tigers return 10 starters, including everyone on defense, from last year’s team that made it to the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Championship. Olivia Hompe returns after leading Princeton with 54 goals and 16 assists a year ago.

UVA and Princeton will be meeting for the 36th time, with the Cavaliers holding a 19-16 advantage in the series. Virginia has won the last two contests, including an 18-11 win at home last season. Princeton won the last meeting in New Jersey with a 15-13 win on March 15, 2014.
