CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.-Virginia head swimming and diving coach Augie Busch has announced that Kyle Ward (Bartlesville, Okla.) has signed an National Letter of Intent to join the Cavaliers for the 2016-17 season.

Ward is a butterflier and freestyle swimmer from Bartlesville High School in Bartlesville, Okla. Ward is a multiple-time Oklahoma state champion and was the 2014 Tulsa World Swimmer of the Year. He recently set the Oklahoma high school record in the 100-yard butterfly, winning the state title in 47.92. In addition, Ward is a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American.

“We are so excited for Kyle because he is such a great kid.” Busch said. “Kyle has a good, positive personality who is also a great student. He will add to everything we do here. He is a talented swimmer and his latest accomplishments only begin to tell what is in store for him the next four years. The staff and I are happy to welcome him to UVA.”

With Ward’s signing, the Cavaliers now have an incoming class of 14 student-athletes.
