Former #UVABase standout Brandon Waddell, a fifth-round pick in last year’s MLB draft by the Pirates, has been promoted from high-A Bradenton to AA Altoona and will pitch for the Curve on Wednesday. Waddell has consistently dominated through five starts in Bradenton, allowing just 13 hits and two walks in 29 innings, with 26 strikeouts and a 0.93 ERA. The Altoona Curve will play in Richmond against the Flying Squirrels next week (May 12-15).
