CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va – No. 5 Virginia seeks its seventh consecutive ACC title as the Cavaliers compete at the 17th annual ACC Rowing Championship Friday-Saturday (May 13-14) on Lake Hartwell in Clemson, S.C.

Heats are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Friday with the Third Varsity Eight, followed by the Second Varsity Four, Varsity Four, Second Varsity Eight and Varsity Eight. It is the second consecutive year the conference regatta has been expanded to five events after having four events contested the first 15 ACC regattas. The ACC Championship finals are set for an 8:05 a.m. start Saturday and the action will be broadcast live on ESPN3.

Ten-time ACC Coach of the Year Kevin Sauer and co-captains Sam Casto (Dallas, Pa.) and Tessa Dikkers (Pelham, N.Y.) lead Virginia into this weekend’s regatta. UVA has won six straight conference titles and 15 of the 16 ACC championship regattas. The Cavaliers have captured 59 of the previous 65 events at the conference level. Virginia is seeded first in all five events this year and will row in the first heat of each event on Friday evening.

UVA is ranked No. 5 in the latest USRowing/Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) national poll, while Notre Dame is ranked No. 15 and Syracuse is No. 16. Duke is ranked No. 19 and Louisville is receiving votes in the poll.
