Charlottesville, Va. – The Women Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) named two Cavaliers to its 2016 All-America teams. Senior Lauren Coughlin (Chesapeake, Va.) was a second-team selection while senior Elizabeth Szokol (Winnetka, Ill.) was an honorable mention choice.

Both players had significant roles in UVA’s season that saw the Cavaliers win a second consecutive ACC title and advance to the match play portion of the NCAA Championships after a fifth-place finish in medal play.

Coughlin won the ACC individual title and was named to the all-conference team for the second time in her career. She led Virginia in scoring average at 72.44 and posted six top-10 finishes during the season. She was UVA’s top finisher at the NCAA Championships, placing 16th overall at even par 288.

Szokol was second on the team with in scoring average at 73.24. She had four top-10 finishes and tied for top honors at the NCAA Regional at Stanford. She was named to the WGCA’s all-region team.

Coughlin and Szokol are the seventh and eighth players in the program’s 13-year history to earn All-America honors.
