Congratulations to #UVABase pitcher Tommy Doyle who has been named to the NECBL North Division All-Star team. Doyle is spending his summer playing in the New England Collegiate Baseball League as a member of the Keene Swamp Bats.

Former #UVABase All-American catcher Matt Thaiss is tearing it up in his first few weeks of professional baseball. The now-first baseman, a first-round draft pick of the Angels, has been promoted from rookie-level Orem to the Class-A Midwest League team in Burlington, Iowa. Thais doubled twice, singled and drove in two runs in his debut with the Bees.
Thaiss batted .338 with two homers and 12 RBIs, striking out four times in 65 at-bats in 15 Pioneer League games before his promotion.
