Friday’s semifinals of the American Collegiate Invitational tennis tournament that is taking place at the US Open is all about the ‘Hoos. Former Virginia women’s tennis All-American and two-time NCAA women’s singles champion Danielle Collins will be followed by former Cavalier All-American and NCAA men’s singles champion Ryan Shane while on the court right next to it former Virginia All-American Julia Elbaba will be followed by current Virginia All-American Thai-Son Kwiatkowski. The ACI is an elite tournament where the top-eight male and top-eight female collegiate players at the end of the previous season are invited by the USTA to compete in a tournament that promotes collegiate tennis at the biggest tennis showcase in the nation.
