Welcome Back Dinner

On Sunday night, all of the Cavaliers gathered at JPJ for the annual Student-Athlete Welcome Back Dinner. The Welcome Back Dinner is one of two events during the year when all of the athletes are gathered together. In addition to catching up and celebrating the start of the 2016-17 athletic year, it is also a time for the teams to show off their sense of style, as demonstrated in the above pic of the women’s basketball team.

Congrats to former Virginia baseball standout Mark Reynolds on hitting his 250th career home run. Reynold’s milestone blast came in the 10th inning and helped the Colorado Rockies defeat San Diego, 3-2. Reynolds is in his 10th Major League season after originally being selected in the 16th round of the 2004 draft by Arizona. Reynolds owns the most home runs in Major League Baseball of any former Cavalier.

Former Cavalier men’s golfer David Pastore picked up his first professional victory over the weekend, winning the PGA TOUR Canada’s Niagara Championship. He birdied the 72nd hole to win the title, shooting 5-under 66 during the final round. Pastore moved from 143rd to 13th on the Order of Merit and earned a spot in this week’s  #F55FChamp.
