CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Virginia Athletics has unveiled the broadcast schedule for the 2017 Virginia Baseball season. Each of Virginia’s 55 games in 2017 will be broadcast either on television, online or radio.

Thirty-seven UVA games, including 25 home contests, will be broadcast online via ACC Network Extra, a dedicated digital channel for ACC sports which is available to authenticated subscribers of ESPN3 through WatchESPN and the ESPN app at no additional charge.

The ACC Network Extra coverage marks the initial phase of the full ACC Network announced July 21 by ESPN and the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Forty-two games will air locally in Charlottesville through the radio airwaves on WINA 1070-AM and 98.9-FM and online via VirginiaSports.com. The audio broadcasts for an additional seven contests will air exclusively on VirginiaSports.com. In addition, all of Virginia’s potential ACC and NCAA tournament games are scheduled to be carried by WINA and streamed online at VirginiaSports.com. There is no charge for audio broadcasts on VirginiaSports.com this year.

This schedule is tentative and subject to change throughout the season.

Virginia’s game at Clemson on Saturday, March 18, will be televised by the ACC’s Regional Sports Networks. The first five days of the ACC Baseball Championship at Louisville Slugger Field also will be broadcast by the ACC’s Regional Sports Networks, while the championship game will air on ESPN2. Broadcasts for further UVA regular-season road games will be determined by the host schools and are yet to be announced.

Ranked as high as 16th nationally in the preseason by Baseball America, Virginia opens the 2017 season on Feb. 17-19 at the Charleston Crab House Shootout in Charleston, S.C., where the Cavaliers will play Liberty, The Citadel and Kansas. UVA returns home Feb. 21 to begin their home schedule against VMI.

Under the tutelage of 14th-year head coach Brian O’Connor, Virginia returns 22 letterwinners from its 2016 squad that went 38-22 and earned host status for an NCAA Regional, marking the Cavaliers’ 13th straight trip to the NCAA tournament. UVA won the 2015 National Championship and has earned four College World Series berths and six NCAA Super Regional appearances since 2009.

Preseason All-Americans Adam Haseley (outfield/pitcher) and Pavin Smith (first base/outfield) and All-ACC infielder Ernie Clement highlight the returning players for the Cavaliers. The junior trio comprises half of Virginia’s six returning position starters.
