CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.-The Virginia men’s and women’s track and field teams compete at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational Saturday (Jan. 27) at the brand-new Liberty Indoor Track Complex in Lynchburg, Va.

Action for the Cavaliers begins at 9:55 a.m. Live results will be available at VirginiaSports.com.

The Cavalier men are tied for fifth in the latest FloTrack national rankings and ninth in the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) national rankings. Virginia will be competing against student-athletes from 22 different schools.

Scheduled to compete are senior Henry Wynne (Westport, Conn.) and redshirt junior Filip Mihaljevic (Livno, Bosnia and Herzegovina), who were named to the 2017 Bowerman Men’s Watch List. The Bowerman award is the highest individual honor in collegiate track and field.

Last weekend at the Notre Dame Invitational on Jan. 21, redshirt sophomore Oghenakpobo Efekoro (Brooklyn, N.Y.) won the men’s shot put, while fellow redshirt sophomore Mia Barron (Minnetonka, Minn.) captured the women’s triple jump title.

Next up, the Cavaliers travel to Boston for a pair of meets. UVA will compete at the Crimson Elite Meet hosted by Harvard on Feb. 3 and the Scarlett & White Meet hosted by Boston University on Feb. 4.
