As The Daily Progress‘ Jerry Ratcliffe states in his opening of a moving feature on Gene Arnette, “One of Charlottesville’s most celebrated athletes has died.” Arnette, who was the UVA starting quarterback in 1968, passed away Thursday while returning from a golf trip in Florida.
