#POY

#UVAFB first-year Lamont Atkins, an early enrollee who came to Grounds this semester, continues to rank up the awards. The Gatorade State Player of the Year will be honored by the DC Touchdown Club on April 13. This weekend, however, he picked up another accolade, and as pictured above, large trophy when the Lake Braddock High alum was  honored by the Northern Virginia Football Hall of Fame. A standout in multiple sports, he left Lake Braddock as the all-time leading rusher with 3,656 rushing yards and 56 touchdowns. In addition to the Gatorade Virginia Player of the Year award, Atkins (the one in the grey suit above) was selected to the Washington Post’s All-Met Team, and the Virginia High School League’s 6A All-State Team both as a running back and a linebacker. A standout on both sides of the football, he was recognized as the 6A Patriot All-Conference Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year.

#InternationalWomensDay

Our student-athletes, current, former and future, were all over social media yesterday celebrating #InternationalWomensDay, including this smiling #UVAWBB alumna, Faith Randolph, who helped make this an “International” celebration as she is professional basketball in Finland.
