Two @UVAMensLacrosse freshmen, Dox Aitken and Michael Kraus, were recognized by Inside Lacrosse’s 2017 Early Season DI Freshman Rankings. Aitken comes in at No. 2 and Kraus registered at No. 4. They are two of three ACC freshmen on the list of 25 college rookies. Aitken has already set the UVA rookie record for goals by a midfielder with 20. Only eight games into the season Aitken is two points shy of breaking the UVA freshman midfielder point-scoring record of 27.  Among all-time UVA freshmen Kraus (21) and Aitken (20) rank No. 13 and No. 14, respectively, in goals scored with only eight games played. Kraus’ 39 points (21 goals, 18 assists) ranks No. 12 all-time among UVA freshmen. With the regular season hitting the mid-way point, there looks to be more upward mobility on these lists.

On the #UVAWTennis team, freshman Rosie Johanson ( has been tearing it up on the court this year for the Virginia women’s tennis team. That effort has been noticed as she was ranked as one of the top 10 Canadian women’s players in the U.S. recently by Universal Tennis. Johanson was 12-4 in tournament action in the fall and is currently 8-3 in dual matches, including a 7-2 record at No. 2 singles for the Cavaliers.
