CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 3 Virginia men’s tennis team (17-0, 4-0 ACC) travels to face No. 1 Wake Forest (17-1, 5-1 ACC) on Friday, March 31 at 4 p.m. at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex in Winston-Salem, N.C.

The undefeated Cavaliers, ranked No. 3 in this week’s ITA team rankings, are coming off back-to-back 7-0 victories at NC State and at home over Duke and have swept three of their four ACC opponents this season.
Virginia lost the doubles point in its first two matches of the season, at Vanderbilt and Kentucky, but has won it in every match since.
Senior Thai-Son Kwiatkowski (Charlotte, N.C.) is ranked No. 6 in the latest ITA Singles rankings. Kwiatkowski, who reached a No. 1 ranking in his sophomore season and was ranked as high as No. 2 last year, has won his last 13 singles matches and is 16-3 this season. Kwiatkowski has 119 career singles wins, ranking him ninth in the UVA record book.
Kwiatkowski and his current doubles partner senior Alexander Ritschard (Zurich, Switzerland) are a perfect 11-0 this season at doubles, playing primarily at No. 2.
Senior J.C. Aragone (Yorba Linda, Calif.) is 23-6 in singles this season and has also won his last 13 matches. Aragone comes into the weekend with 95 career singles wins, closing in on the 100-victory milestone.
Wake Forest has won its last nine matches after falling 4-3 to Ohio State in the semifinals of the ITA National Team Indoor Championship in Charlottesville. The Demon Deacons rose to No. 1 in the March 14 Oracle/ITA College Tennis Division I rankings, a first for the program. The Demon Deacons are 15-1 with an 11-1 mark against ranked opponents this season.
The Deacons have a pair of singles players ranked in the top-15 nationally with Petros Chrysochos (22-4) at No. 2 and Skander Mansouri (22-7) at No. 14. Mansouri and Christian Seraphim (26-5) are the top-ranked doubles team in the country.
Last season, the Cavaliers defeated Wake Forest twice, picking up a 4-3 victory in the second round of the 2016 ITA National Team Indoor Championship and a 5-2 win in the regular-season match-up that shored up UVA’s 13th-consecutive ACC regular-season title. Wake Forest downed the Cavaliers 4-3 in the final of the ACC Championship, snapping UVA’s streak of nine-consecutive ACC tournament titles. It was the Demon Deacons’ first victory over the Cavaliers since 2003.
The Cavaliers will return home for the first of four-straight home matches when they host Clemson (8-9, 1-4 ACC) on Sunday, April 2 at 1 p.m. at the Snyder Tennis Center. Admission is free for all UVA home tennis matches.
