Look Hoos Keeping Busy

Two-time NCAA Singles champion and #UVAMTEN standout Somdev Devvarman announced on New Year’s Day that he was retiring from professional tennis, but he has hardly been anything but idle since. Devvarman was recently appointed as the National Observer for Tennis in his native India by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. In this capacity, he will “serve as the eyes and ears of the Government of India” in respect to national team selections, training and camps as well as observing national teams in international competitions. Devvarman has also been assisting the Life Is A Ball Organization, a non-profit based in Chennai that reaches out to help underprivileged children through sport, a charity that he has been working with for the past three years.
