CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. – Virginia volleyball head coach Aaron Smith announced the addition of Olivia Wolodkewitsch (Omaha, Neb.) to the 2017 signing class.

“Olivia made a great impression on the team and staff and is going to be an awesome fit here at UVA,” Smith said. “Iowa Western was one of the top junior colleges this season, where Olivia made an impact in both the defensive specialist and libero role. Olivia fills an immediate need as a back-row player. She is a major upgrade for our serve receive and team defense. She has also had a lot of success as a server, which we will continue to develop.”

Wolodkewitsch is a defensive specialist transfer from Iowa Western Community College. As a freshman, she played in all 50 matches with 51 aces and 565 total digs. Wolodkewitsch helped Iowa Western to a second-place finish at nationals as a sophomore.

A native of Omaha, Neb., Wolodkewitsch played three years at Marian High School and was a member of the Nebraska Elite Club team. She qualified for national tournament with the club team multiple times and helped the team win the Chicago qualifier in 2014.

Wolodkewitsch becomes the sixth newcomer for the 2017 season, joining Hannah Barcus, Sarah Billiard, Jelena Novakovic, Alexandra Spencer and Megan Wilson.
