On Sunday, former #UVAMBB standout Mike Scott signed a one-year contract with the Washington Wizards. Scott played four-plus seasons for the Atlanta Hawks before being traded to the Suns and later waived by Phoenix. Scott only played sparingly in 18 games in 2016-17 due to a knee injury.

MLB Futures

Former #UVABASE outfielder Derek Fisher played in the MLB Futures Game on Sunday night. Fisher was in the starting lineup for Team USA. He laced a two-run double to left-center field off 6-foot-7 Yankees prospect Domingo Acevedo in the fourth inning and also drew a two-out walk against Dodgers’ flamethrower Yadier Alvarez in the first inning to score the game’s first run on a single by Nick Senzel of the Reds. In this interview after the game, Fisher talks about the game, including being excited that “it is the first time I’ve played with USA across my chest.” Andrew Ramspacher of the Daily Progress also caught up with Fisher who spoke about how his collegiate experience prepared him for the pros.
