Redding Posts Career Best Score at Tar Heel Invite

Chapel Hill, N.C. – The Virginia women’s golf team shot 1-under 287 during the final round of play at the Tar Heel Invitational to finish ninth in the 18-team field at 4-over 868. Duke took top honors at 833.
Junior Anna Redding (Concord, N.C.) was UVA’s top finisher, placing sixth at 9-under 207, bettering her previous best tournament score by three strokes. Redding shot 69 during Sunday’s final round after opening with a 70 and firing 68 on Saturday. It was her second consecutive top-10 finish this season after starting the season by placing eighth at the Mason Rudolph Championship. The tournament was the fourth top-10 performance of her career.
Freshman Beth Lillie (Fullerton, Calif.) was UVA’s number-two scorer for the second time in as many tournaments. She shot 1-under 71 during the final round to move up to 26th place at 1-under 215.
Junior Katharine Patrick (Houston, Texas) also turned in an under-par performance during the final round. She shot 2-under 70 to improve to 32nd overall at 1-over 217. Her 54-hole total bettered her previous best scoring mark by two shots.
Junior Morgan Gonzales (Chandler, Ariz.) was 80th at 230 while sophomore Julia Ford (Shrewsbury, Mass.) was 82nd at 231. Both players posted final round scores of 77.
Sophomore Kate Harper (Isle of Palm, S.C.), who competed as an individual, had her best 18-hole score during the tournament on Sunday. She shot 3-over 75 and finished 92nd at 239.
The Cavaliers return to action Oct. 27-29 at the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, N.C.
