Man of the Match
#UVAMSoc alum Brian Ownby (2008-11), now a member of Louisville City FC of the United Soccer League, was the man of the match in Saturday’s Eastern Conference Championship game against New York Red Bulls II. He scored the contest’s first goal in the 12th minute (video link). The two teams ended up playing to a 1-1 draw and Louisville City later advanced on penalty kicks. Ownby and Louisville City FC will play for the USL Cup on Nov. 13 against the Swope Park Rangers. The game will be televised on ESPNU.

Congratulations to #UVAFH assistant coach Rachel Dawson who ran the New York City Marathon on Sunday. Dawson finished with a time of 4:31:43 in her first-ever marathon.

It was a big weekend for former #UVAMGolf All-American Jimmy Stanger, making the cut for the first time in a PGA tour event, the Shriner’s Hospital for Children Open in Las Vegas. Stanger finished 41st for the week and shot a 67 (-4) in the final round. He also made his Sports Center debut after closing out first-round action by going eagle, birdie, birdie.
