Cavaliers will host Louisville and Princeton in Weekend Meet

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.- The Virginia men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will host Louisville and Princeton in a two-day meet beginning on Friday (Nov. 10) at the Aquatic and Fitness Center in Charlottesville, Va.

Action begins on Friday with swimming events at 10 a.m., followed by diving events at the conclusion of the morning session and a 6 p.m. evening swimming session. The meet will conclude on Saturday (Nov. 11) with swimming events beginning at 9 a.m.

Admission to Virginia swimming and diving meets is free to the public. Public parking is available, on a first-come, first serve basis, at Slaughter Recreation Center and the parking lot closest to the West Gate at Scott Stadium.

The 6 p.m. swimming session on Friday will be a Sabre Rewards Event in addition to the first 300 students receiving Domino’s pizza. On Saturday, Virginia swimming and diving alumni will be recognized during the break. Youth will also be invited to stand on the pool deck pre-meet and during the national anthem to welcome the Cavaliers to the pool. There will be a face painter and balloon artist prior to the start of the meet and a post-meet autograph session in the lobby of the Aquatic and Fitness Center.

The Cavalier women are ranked 16th nationally, while the men are ranked 23rd, according to the latest poll by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America. Both Cardinal teams also hold national rankings as the women rank 10th and the men rank 17th.

Virginia enters the meet undefeated (4-0, 1-0 ACC), topping Duke in team’s last competition. The Cavalier women defeated No. 23 Duke, 182-115, while the Cavalier men defeated the Blue Devils, 169-131. Freshman Emma Seiberlich (Audubon, Pa.) and sophomore Mary Claire Tansill (Bristow, Va.) each won two events to pace the women’s team, while redshirt junior Brendan Casey (Santa Monica, Calif.), junior Bryce Keblish (Fairfield, Conn.) and freshman Matthew Otto (Newark, Del.) finished first in two events to lead the men’s teams. Seiberlich was named ACC Female Swimmer of the Week for her performance.

Louisville is looking for its first dual win of the season after suffering a loss to the No. 12 Tennessee women and No. 15 Tennessee men. The Cardinals have also faced Notre Dame and Michigan in dual meets this season.

In their last out, the Princeton women (2-0) defeated Miami and Nova Southeastern, while the men’s team (1-0) topped Nova Southeastern.
