Louisville, Ky.- Virginia senior Frances Schmiede (Sydney, Australia) finished 42nd with a time of 20:14.2 at the NCAA Championships on Saturday (Nov. 18) at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky.
“Frances finished up an impressive season with a strong run today,” head women’s cross country coach Todd Morgan said. “She arrived and immediately became a great leader and teammate for us. She is really at the point of taking her running to another level and we are excited to help her get there.”
Today’s performance was a personal best for the senior, who finished 119th while competing with Yale at the 2016 NCAA Cross Country Championships. She recorded a time of 20:55.0 during last year’s competition, improving her time by over 40 seconds with today’s race.
New Mexico finished first for the second time in three years, scoring 90 points. San Francisco finished second with 105 points, while Colorado finished third with 139 points.
