#HoosInThePros

Two stories today about former Cavaliers (#OnceAHooAlwaysAHoo). First, former #UVABase pitcher Kyle Crockett is on the move. Crockett was claimed off waivers by the Cincinnati Reds on Monday. He was drafted by the Indians in the fourth round of the 2013 draft and was the first player in that draft class to make it to the big leagues, doing so on May 16, 2014. The Newport News native has a 3.44 career ERA in 107 career relief performances.

It is a big week for several former members of the UVA women’s golf team. Briana Mao, Elizabeth Szokol, Lauren Coughlin and Portland Rosen are all part of the field for the final stage of the LPGA’s Q-School qualifying that takes place in Daytona Beach, Fla. A total of 166 players will be competing with 70 players advancing after four rounds of stroke play to the final round. Only 20 full-time LPGA playing cards will be awarded for the 2018 tour. Those who finish in places 21-45, and players tied for 45th, earn conditional LPGA status for 2018. The qualifying tournament begins on Wednesday, November 29, and ends on Sunday, December 3.
