Patrick's Fifth-Place Finishes Leads UVA at LSU

Baton Rouge, La. – The 25th-ranked Virginia women’s golf team tied for third at the LSU Tiger Golf Classic in Baton Rouge, La. The Cavaliers shot 10-over 298 during Sunday’s final round for a 54-hole total of 53-over 917. UVA’s final round tally was its best single-round score of the weekend. No. 48 LSU rallied during over the final 18 holes to capture the team title at 38-over 902. No. 26 Houston was second at 904.
Virginia was led by the fifth-place finish of junior Katharine Patrick (Houston, Texas). She shot even par 72 for a three-day total of 7-over 223. Her Sunday score was the best of any UVA player during the tournament, which was played in strong winds during the first two rounds.
Patrick’s finish was her best as a Cavalier and marked her second top-10 outing, both of which came this spring. In February, she placed 10th at the FSU Match-Up. It was the second time during her career she has led UVA in scoring. The last time also came in Louisiana when she was Virginia’s top finisher at the 2017 Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate in New Orleans.
Freshman Beth Lillie (Fullerton, Calif.) posted her second-best finish as a Cavalier, placing 14th at 229. She fired 2-over 74 during the final round. Junior Morgan Gonzales (Chandler, Ariz.) shot 78 and dropped back to 25th place at 234.
Junior Anna Redding (Concord, N.C.) and sophomore Julia Ford (Shrewsbury, Mass.) tied for 31st overall at 235. Redding shot 74 while Ford posted a final-round effort of 78.
Senior Maho Hayakawa (St. Mary’s, Fla.), who was competing as an individual, finished 45th at 241. She shot 78 during the final round.
The Cavaliers play their final regular-season tournament April 6-8 at the Bryan National Championship in Brown Summit, N.C.
