Alpharetta, Ga. –The Virginia men’s golf team shot even par 288 during the second round of the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate Invitational to move up one place on the leaderboard. The Cavaliers’ 36-hole total is 1-under 575. No. 15 Clemson leads the 14-team field at 20-under 556. 
 
Sophomore Jimmie Massie (Lynchburg, Va.) led UVA on Saturday with a round of 1-under 71. He is in 17th place at 2-under 142. Senior Thomas Walsh (High Point, N.C.) dropped back to 28th place after shooting 74 during the second round. He enters Sunday’s final round at even par 144.
 
Freshman David Morgan (Naples, Fla.) and sophomore WeiWei Gao (Cebu City, Philippines) are tied for 35th place at 1-over 145. Both players posted scores of even par 72 on Saturday. Junior Andrew Orischak (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) is in 40th place at 2-over 146 after shooting 1-over 73 for the second consecutive day.
 
The field for the tournament includes 11 teams ranked among the top-50 by Golfstat.com.  In stroke play, USC’s Justin Suh stands first overall at 10-under 134 while Clemson’s Turk Petit is in second place at 136.
