CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The No. 13 Virginia men’s golf team shot 3-over 287 during Sunday’s final round of stroke play at the ACC Championships to finish fifth in the 12-team field. UVA finished the three rounds of stroke play at 1-under 851. The Cavaliers failed to advance to match play, finishing three shots behind a trio of teams that tied for second at -4, 848. North Carolina won stroke play (-10, 842) while Florida State, Georgia Tech and Wake Forest tied for second.

UVA’s place finish was ahead of Virginia Tech (12th / +34, 886) allowing the Cavaliers to claim the point at stake in the Smithfield Commonwealth Clash competition between the two teams. It also provided Virginia the winning point in this year’s Clash. UVA currently leads the Clash 12 to 6.5 with just four events and 3.5 points left to be decided in the competition.

Bryan Lee was UVA’s top finisher at the ACC Championships, shooting 2-under 69 for the second consecutive day to finish sixth at 4-under 209. Ben James was 12th at even par 213 while Deven Patel was 18th at 1-over 214. Both of those players shot even par 71 on Sunday.
